There are moments when distance feels heavier than usual.
For those of us who are Colombian and live abroad, Colombia never stops feeling like home. We may build our lives miles away, adapt to new cities, and create new homes, but part of our hearts always remains there — with our families, our friends, our memories, and our people.
In difficult moments like the one our country is facing right now, that distance feels even greater.
We find ourselves constantly checking the news, waiting for messages, making calls, asking if everyone is safe, and trying to help in whatever way we can. From afar, we deeply feel the fear, uncertainty, and pain of every family affected.
There are no perfect words for a moment like this. We simply want our Colombian community to know that, even from a distance, we are with you.
And perhaps moments like this also leave us with an important reminder: nothing in life should be taken for granted.
The hug we can give today, the phone call we keep postponing, a meal shared with family, a simple conversation, or the chance to say “I love you” are gifts we often overlook in the middle of our daily routines.
May this moment remind us to hold our loved ones a little closer, to be more present, and to be grateful for the ordinary moments that so often become the most meaningful ones in our lives.
Today, our thoughts are with Colombia.
